Amy Amantea

Story + Accessibility Consultant

Amy Amantea is an actor and creative that lives with legal blindness. Combining arts and accessibility is a passion for Amy and she is currently the first Accessibility Coordinator for the Arts Club Theatre Company and the Community Outreach Coordinator for VocalEye.  Amy recently created a short video for Pandemic Postcards, commissioned by the Harbourfront Theatre in Toronto which brought together 21 international artists with disabilities to share their artistic practice during the pandemic. Amy is also President of the Board for Realwheels Theatre and is actively involved in writing and acting in both their professional and community projects. Amy returned to the stage upon joining Realwheels post-sight loss in 2016 for “Comedy on Wheels” and for Arun Lakra’s “Sequence” in 2017.

The Access Acting Academy honoured Amy with the opportunity to live and study acting intensively in Los Angeles in January 2020 alongside other professional actors with sight loss – a prestigious program and first of its kind in the USA.  Meeting Conor Wylie in the summer of 2019 while attending Theatre Replacement’s New Aesthetics Performane intensive has brought such a gift into Amy’s life and is how she became a part of “K BODY AND MIND” – it’s a real “dream team” to work with and be a part of!
